In this practice, we explore simple, steady ways to anchor the mind so it can settle, soften, and feel supported.
Throughout our shapes, you will be invited to choose one of several breath-based anchors.
You might feel or witness your breath in a specific area of your body. Your belly, your ribs, your heart space, or even the quiet touch of air at your nostrils. Let your awareness rest there without forcing anything.
Another option is to ask yourself, “What am I feeling here?” Each time you arrive in a pose, bring curiosity to the sensations that arise. Imagine sending your breath directly into that area as if it could travel straight into the heart of sensation.
You may also choose to count your breaths. Inhale, exhale, one. Inhale, exhale, two. There is no goal and no finish line. Just a steady way to return your awareness whenever the mind wanders.
You will also have the option to plant a quiet intention in your heart. A word or phrase that answers the question:
“What do I need from my practice?”
Let it sit there like a seed, held and nourished as you move through each shape.
This class supports you in meeting your mind with steadiness, spaciousness, and compassion, returning to yourself one breath at a time.
